Day is done,
gone the sun,
from the lakes
from the hills
from the sky,
all is well,
safely, rest,
God is near.
Fading light,
Dims the sight,
And a star
gems the sky
Gleaming bright,
From afar,
Drawing, near,
Falls the night.
Thanks and praise,
For our days,
Neath the sun
Neath the stars
Neath the sky,
As we go,
This, we, know,
God is near.
Okay, so I might be a little over dramatic, but you have to understand how I loved that toy. It's melodious squeak resonated with my soul. It wasn't my whole life, but it made my life whole.
In retrospect, I think Lyle was looking to settle a score with me. Up until last night he hadn't shown even the smallest interest in my beloved Wacky Cat. I squeaked, he barked out the window. I chased, he got out of my way.
But
something got into him last night. Call it the devil if you will, but he
was heck bent on destruction. It was bad enough that he turned Mr. Sizzle
into Mr. Fizzle, I mean, that was his own toy after all. But Wacky Cat was
mine. I loved Wacky Cat and Wacky Cat loved me. The way she
fit into my mouth was like she was made specially for me.
He
attacked it with such vigor. His mouth moved faster than the eye could
see. Personally, I think he was just trying to create as much destruction
as his whigle mouth could before getting in trouble.
But where there is loss, there is new hope. For today the bosses ordered another Wacky Cat. In five to seven business days perhaps I'll know happiness again. And you can be darn sure that I'll never take her for granted again.
